House Lease Transfer

By | March 3, 2012

A house lease transfer refers to the reassignment of the legal rights and responsibilities of the tenant of a leased house to another person. This scenario arises when the first tenant can no longer continue the lease agreement or is looking for a new house because of which he has to discontinue the contract. So instead of terminating the contract, for which he has to pay a big sum for the rest of the months in the lease term, he transfers the title of the house lease to another tenant who is regarded to be the new lessee and has to follow the terms of the contract. A house lease transfer agreement must be approved of by the landlord of the house.

Sample House Lease Transfer:

Name of tenant: Libby Andrews

Name of new tenant: Martha Bane

Name of landlord: Dorothy Jones

Apartment address: House number 2112, 83 Morrow Lane, Ohio

The House Lease Transfer agreement has been entered on February 16, 2012 under which the tenant agrees to transfer the title of the lease of the house to the new tenant for the remaining term of the lease, that is, 4 months. The new tenant and the landlord can extend the contract after the term is complete.

Terms and Conditions:

  • The tenant shall no longer have any responsibility towards the agreement any more
  • The new tenant shall pay the security deposit amount to the tenant and need not pay it to the landlord again

All parties agree to the house lease transfer.
