Lease Cancellation Letter

By | January 6, 2012

A lease cancellation letter is usually initiated by the lessor when he wishes to cancel or terminate the lease prior to the actual date of termination. Such a document must clearly explain the reasons for termination or cancellation. A lease cancellation letter must be clear and concise, including important details of the actual lease document. A lease cancellation letter must also mention the clauses which allow this kind of cancellation and the compensation that may be provided.

Date: 23rd June 2012

Subject: Lease Cancellation

Respected Sir,

This letter is to inform you that I am terminating the apartment lease initiated between us on the 5th of June 2011 with immediate effect. The date of termination of the apartment lease was 24th June 2013, but on account of the results of my monthly apartment inspection, I found extensive damage to the woodwork, flooring, upholstery and kitchenware of the flat. This is against the spirit of the apartment lease terms and conditions, and clause 34[ii] clearly states that I, as the lessor of the apartment, have sole discretion as far as eviction of tenant on grounds of causing of damage to the apartment is concerned.

You are consequently requested to please remove your belongings from the apartment by July 2012. The initial security deposit you had paid now stands forfeited as I am liable to claim it as my damage benefits. The lease stands cancelled hereby.

Thanking you,

Sally Gonzales
